Supported Independent Living (SIL) gives NDIS participants the personalised support needed to live independently, develop life skills, and thrive in a safe, community-focused environment. United for Care offers you a wide range of SIL living options, all with 24/7 support, empowering you to live life on your terms.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a type of NDIS funding and support to help you with daily tasks to live as independently as possible whilst building your skills. We provide SIL supports in your own apartment within our Vertical Village model.

The Advantages of Supported Independent Living

Personalised Support

SIL is tailored to meet individual needs, allowing residents to receive the appropriate level of support while promoting independence. This could include assistance with daily activities, medical care, or personal development.

Community Integration

SIL often encourages integration into the community, providing residents with opportunities to participate in local events, employment, and social activities, which can enhance their social skills and reduce feelings of isolation.

Skill Development

Supported Independent Living programs commonly include training to help individuals develop life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and more. This fosters greater independence and confidence.

Safety and Security

SIL provides a safe and secure living environment, which is especially important for those who might be vulnerable. Staff are typically available to assist with any emergencies or issues that arise.

Flexibility

These programs offer flexibility in terms of the level of support, which can be adjusted as a person’s needs change over time. This ensures that the support provided always aligns with what is actually needed.

Promotes Well-being

By supporting physical, emotional, and social needs, SIL can improve overall well-being and quality of life for its residents. The structured environment also helps in maintaining a balanced routine.

Independence Within a Supportive Framework

Although it provides necessary support, SIL still promotes independence, giving individuals a sense of control over their lives and decisions.

Transforming Lives With Our Vertical Villages

I'm here, I'm safe and I've got a place to call home. I've got an incredible care team around me that understand my needs and it's amazing! Very grateful for United for Care!

This team is the Gold Standard. The staff have a good handle on comorbidity of cognitive impairment, mental health, substance use and challenging behaviours. It’s what makes them so aspirational. I worked with one of their clients in crisis homelessness intermittent with incarceration & hospitalisation. He would disappear and reappear. This man is now present, engaged, has a home, no criminal matters. His quality of life has improved.

United for Care became a beacon of hope for our family when my sister suffered a stroke that left her non-verbal and with a permanent physical disability. Their dedicated and compassionate team provided quality care and emotional support, bringing hope and normalcy back into our lives. They celebrated her progress and, most importantly, helped her find her voice again. We are forever grateful for their support.
