Beacon of hope for our family when my sister suffered a stroke that left her non-verbal and with a permanent physical disability. Their dedicated and compassionate team provided quality care and emotional support, bringing hope and normalcy back into our lives.

A Path to a Fresh Start

What Is Reintegration Housing?

Reintegration housing is a specialised service for people living with disabilities who are due to be or have recently been released from custody and are at risk of homelessness. United For Care offers secure, accessible accommodation alongside a full range of supports that help ease the transition into everyday life. Whether it's connecting with parole officers, accessing mental health care, or finding employment, United For Care provides the foundation for a fresh start.

How Does It Work?

When people leave custody, they often face a host of challenges—from finding stable housing to maintaining communication with parole officers or the risk of re-offending. Reintegration housing at United For Care ensures that people have a safe place to stay while receiving the help they need to reintegrate successfully. Our tailored housing options are designed for accessibility and comfort, while our support services address both physical and mental well-being.

With a compassionate team by their side, people are guided through essential services such as Centrelink, addiction recovery, and healthcare. This holistic approach empowers individuals to reconnect with their community and take control of their future.

Support Services at United For Care

  • Specialist Housing: Secure, accessible housing designed for people living with disabilities who are leaving custody. The accommodation offers safety and comfort, providing a critical foundation during this transitional period.
  • Parole & Probation Support: Assistance in maintaining communication with parole and probation officers, ensuring all legal requirements are met and reducing the stress of navigating the system.
  • Centrelink Support: Guidance in accessing financial support through Centrelink, helping people with benefit claims and appointments to regain financial independence.
  • Alcohol or Drug Support: Direct access to addiction recovery services, offering counselling and treatment options to support a healthy transition.
  • Physical & Mental Health Services: Connection to local healthcare providers to ensure ongoing medical care, therapy, and psychiatric services tailored to the needs of people living with disabilities.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Many people exiting the criminal justice system have traumatic histories and complex support needs. Trauma-Informed Care helps them make peace with the past so they can build a more positive future.
  • Community Participation: Support in reconnecting with society through employment services, social activities, and community groups, fostering meaningful engagement with the wider community.

Benefits of Reintegration Housing

  • Stability: Safe, supportive housing is key to preventing homelessness and rebuilding a stable life.

  • Community Reconnection: Assistance in finding a place in the community again, whether through work, social groups, or volunteer opportunities.
  • Specialist Accommodation: Housing designed specifically for people living with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and comfort at every stage.

Reintegration housing is more than simply providing a place to stay. It’s about offering the stability, care, and support needed to move forward confidently. Whether someone is transitioning back into the community or supporting a loved one through this journey, United For Care offers a path to a brighter future.
